WELCOME TO SEEDS OF S.P.I.C.E. EARLY LEARNING CENTRE where children ages 5 - 12 yrs are celebrated in a high quality, child led environment that focuses on leadership opportunities, project work and monthly clubs while supporting social-emotional, cognitive, large and fine motor and creative development. Each program is located on-site at your school using a Reggio Inspired approach that believes all children are capable individuals with pre-set skills, interests and abilities that are supported and celebrated. Children are treated as contributing community members with a voice that will be heard and rejoiced.
We value guiding early learning processes, therefore we support an environment that promotes active engagement and participation while making meaning and co-constructing knowledge. We believe that children deserve excitement and the element of surprise with endless possibilities everyday. We encourage process oriented experiences and activities that support creativity and imagination while understanding diverse perspectives.
We believe that working with families, building and strengthening early childhood communities, in the care and learning of their children fosters places healthy communities where people exist in relationships that encourage growth, creativity, innovation, problem solving, and progress as people come together and share their individual perspectives, wisdom, strengths and skills.
“Given the chance, a child will bring the confusion of the world to the woods, wash it in the creek, and turn it over to see what lives on the unseen side of that confusion….In nature, a child finds freedom, fantasy, and privacy; a place distance from the adult world, a separate peace.”

"Our daughter fully enjoys her time at Seeds of S.P.I.C.E. before and after school care. The child directed learning allows the children to explore and develop their own programming with the ideas or events explored and supported by the staff. The staff provide a safe, structured and disciplined environment for the children while also finding opportunities to share this learning with parents."

“We appreciated being able to rely on Seeds of Spice during the time our kids were at William Reid School. The caregivers are attentive and caring. They provide the kids with lots of fun, stimulating things to do with their friends. They introduced our kids to knitting, sewing, and a variety of crafts and games. It’s like a structured play date every day.”

“My daughter is in kindergarten care at William Reid. I just wanted to send along a note of acknowledgment to the staff. They have excelled at program planning, communication and care during this first month. I appreciate the field trips, planning and creativity. My daughter really enjoys her time with them, so I just wanted to say thank you. I know this first month was a bit of an experiment, but we really are happy with the thoughtfulness of the program.”

“I have to say you've done an amazing job on selecting the staff, I regard them as very high quality individuals who are always a pleasure to interact with. My daughters are very important to me and I love the fact that when I come to greet the kids every day they are free to play and interact as kids. The environments they get taken to, the engaging activities they do are amazing. Honestly I have a hard time getting them to leave every day! A lot of times I have to leave them there to play from their demands. I also appreciate their patience when our kids can be tricky to deal with.”

”I hope that you and your team get to hear all of the wonderful things that are said in the community about your program. We've talked to many parents - both from William Reid and those who ultimately enrolled elsewhere - and every time we mention that we're hoping to enroll our daughter at William Reid, the first thing they do is launch into stories about how amazing Seeds of S.P.I.C.E. is! You have an incredible reputation in the community and I can't imagine the hard work and dedication that have gone into that. Thank you for the great work that you do!”
